Feedback Friday - 4th July 2008

It’s Feedback Friday time, and we’re here to give you an update on what’s been going on in the world of Tabula Rasa for this week.

Deployment 10 is now on the Public Test Server and we’d love any chance you get to take a crack at it and, to put it bluntly, break it. We had a 2 week bug fixing extension for this deployment, so we know some of you are chomping at the bit to see it. The next patch will also include fixes to some of the current D10 known issues.

As mentioned in the D10 announcement post, the Pegasus character database will populate the Public Test Server until our next build (some time next week).  When the next build is added to PTS, so will the Cassiopeia character database.

We are about half-way through Deployment 11, and here’s some of the things we are working on so far:

  • 3 additional high-level special weapons
  • Several quality of life changes
  • Introduction of a new creature
  • Working on crafting, CoCP and minion changes prototypes
  • And our newest instance – Omega Labs

Stay tuned to next week’s Feedback Friday and we should have more details for you about additions in D11.

Dybukkar Garrison

We’ve seen you work through the ranks of the AFS, now we need YOU for a special operation.  This one’s going to lead you to an area in Abyss that we’ve only allowed a few AFS, and so far, the results haven’t been too successful. Your next assignment is in Dybukkar Garrison, Abyss.

You have several tasks in this assignment.  The first, would be to find out why the Bane dropships are drawn to this area.  Surveillance images show a mass amount of Bane air-support and we’d like you to throw a wrench in whatever the Bane are doing.

The second task involves a bit more reconnaissance work.  The Bane have been harvesting a cactus-like plant called Guiche (see below).  This plant has been known to give Bane an edge in the battle by giving them logos abilities.

Take a look at these pictures secured by our special ops team – looks like they are just waiting to unleash those “enhanced” Thrax on us.  We’ve got to do something.

You have your mission Soldier, don’t let us down!  We’ll be waiting to hear from you.

Staff feedback (Guardian)

I recently had an opportunity to try the staffs on the Public Test Server.

Being a staff lover and level 40 Veteran, I am disappointed to experience the change.

The twirling staff blast requires skill to use. Also, it does heavy damage.

The new version has sacrificed damage for fire rate.

Also, I cannot actually tell that the staff fires. I have to watch the enemy’s health to know that I hit them.

Personally, I feel there are enough guns in Tabula Rasa to keep those who like them happy.

Please don’t make the staff like a gun.

Leave something unique for us staff and sword fans to enjoy.

Avatea Thank you for your feedback. We do have the Feedback Form for any kind of feedback you have about the game smile

Feedback (Clan Banks)

I tried the new clan banks and was quite impressed.

However, I think they need a minor modification for security.

The ability to take items from the clan locker should be dependent on skills/level that the character has.

For example, you can only take level 35 Bio Armor if you have a minimum of level 35 and have Bio Armor training.

Only the clan leader should have “Full Access” to the clan bank.

Avatea Duly noted and forwarded to the developers smile

Waypoint bug

On the PTS, it appears there is a problem with waypoints, both fixed and portable.

After you go through the waypoint, for 10 seconds after arriving at the waypoint, you are unable to move away from it.

Logout Timer

While I understand the necessity of the timer, it is actually quite cumbersome for one simple reason.

On my favorite servers (Centaurus and Cassiopeia), I have two characters per server. I like to be able to switch between them quickly as required.

Also, I know people who have around 10 characters for various reasons (hybrids, crafters, extra storage). They load these characters quite rapidly in sequence when preparing for certain missions.

The timer would increase the delay in loading alternate characters into the game.

So, it’s not really a good idea.

Polymorph problems.

1. Timer.
A spy player by their nature is careful. We don’t rush around. The timer on our disguise is contrary to our nature.

2. Bane shields
A morphed spy is incapable of passing through AFS shields. So why can’t a morphed spy pass through Bane shields?

3. Standing stuck bug.
This is the worst bug. When morphed, a spy can become fixed to where they are standing. The only known solution is to logout. In an instance, it resets and you lose all the progress you made.

4. Water bug.
When a morphed spy accidentally walks through water, we get stuck and can’t move.

5. Sword swinging and movement
This is a personal problem I’ve noticed, but which needs attention.  Every time I attempt to move while fighting with a blade, my spy will either not swing the blade or stop moving, plant their feet firmly on the ground and swing the blade.

Tech and Kael morph feedback

There are two areas where spy morphs do not reflect the abilities displayed by enemies ingame.

1. Tech
A Tech’s turret continues functioning until destroyed or the tech dies. A spy’s turret is time limited, too short it seems.

2. Kael
A Kael can leap very great distances to their target. A spy’s Kael is not capable of doing this.

3. Gun bug
When morphing into a Thrax or Tech, the gun is often “invisible”, the shot coming from the Thrax or Tech’s empty hand.

Also, it would be interesting if the Thrax morph had a second weapon, the commonly seen Bane Rifle.

<Avatea> 2 and 3 are known issues, we’ll get onto that as soon as we can.

Sniper feedback

Snipers commonly use two logos powers to “enhance” their aiming: called shot and target painting. In order to increase bead time and decrease the chance of getting shot, snipers usually crouch. In order to use these powers, when cast, they are forced to stand.

It would be better if a sniper could cast these powers without rising from the crouched position.

Feedback Form in the Community section for your future comments as they seem to be very specific smile
