1.4 is live and kicking! We hope you’re enjoying the new content and sending us your feedback on all the changes we’ve made in this build. We will be working out any new found issues with 1.4 in the upcoming week as well as focusing on 1.5 content (which we hope to share with you sometime soon)!
Hybrids
In 1.4 we introduced Hybrids into the AFS. A half human, half alien “race” complete with Forean, Brann, and Thrax strengths and weaknesses. Please check out the latest Hybrids: In the Field video courtesy of the AFS. You can also check out some of the Hybrid concept art that we’ve recently added to the website.
Some beginner information on Hybrid Missions:
Hybrid Stats (compliments of Gangrel’s Unofficial Forums)
Human Forean Brann Thrax
+Resistance NA +10% Virulent +10% Electrical +10% Sonic
-Resistance NA -10% Laser -10% Physical -10% Fire
Forean Hybrid Story Arc: Begins in Thoria Das, Divide
Brann Hybrid Story Arc: Begins in the Brann LZ, Mires*
Thrax Hybrid Story Arc: Begins in Crucible Wormhole
*note: In this mission, you are required to be killed by a Caretaker. For level 30 players, this is fairly simple task. If you are too much higher, the Caretakers may not be able to penetrate your armor and may have to head out to Thunderhead and Howling Maw with higher level Caretakers to complete this task
Featured Community Site:
We introduced a new featured with RGTR.com this week. We will now begin highlighting websites from our community in our “Featured Community Site” article. Check out the first Featured Community Site interview with MMORPGslave.
Next we answer some Player Question submitted from the Feedback Form.
Q. Hey will there be any vehicles coming out in the possible future like an APC or truck or something to move squad members around?
A. Temporary Wormholes were added in the last build that allow group members to teleport to and from areas within the game. As far as vehicles go, information regarding Tabula Rasa’s PAUs can be found here. More information will be released as we get closer to releasing PAUs to the Test Server.
Q. Sometimes when I run around corners and the enemy are shooting at me they still seem to hit me when I’m around the corner. Is this a collision issue?
A. If an enemy is shooting at you through a wall or can target you while in an area where you are behind cover, then that would be a bug. Please make sure to enter a bug ticket so that our QA Department can investigate and write up the issue for the developers. To do this, just type /bug and fill out the pop up menu with any pertinent information.
These next questions are addressed by Victor Meinert, Art Director for Destination Games.
Q. Will we see an ability to paint the secondary color of our armor in the future?
A. Aaaah…Secondary Colors…the holy grail of the wearable system! This is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time as I know a lot of players would love to have it. Right now we are focused on getting more optimization out of that system. A faster game is more fun! We may explore this in future releases though. –V.M.
Q. Will we see any exotic paints in the future? Black, White, and all the colors of the rainbow are fun and all, but you know what I’ve never seen before? Exotic mixed paints. Woodland Camo, Arctic Camo, Desert camo, etc… you get the idea. Let’s see some innovation!
A.This is definitely an area that I think we can have more fun with. The avatar system is one of the more challenging art systems, and one that we focus on quite a bit. It’s an expensive set of art in that it’s always getting pulled on the card and the texture set is pretty big. That being said, we’ve had to be creative in how we make it better. Putting patterns through to the hued areas is a great idea, but a really challenging notion technically. I can’t promise that we can do it, but I can tell you that as soon as I read this question I walked down the hall to our avatar group and wrote the challenge on the board. Everybody stand back…we’re thinking!! –V.M.
