Respecs and Rage, what you’ll want to know!
29th November 2007 13:26 Posted by Avatea
Paul’s post about Rage sparked some clarification questions - and we have answers. Please bear in mind this is not relevant for the current build but for a later build, however the tooltip for the Rage skill has been changed on the Live servers, NOT the buff level.
Respec? Details please!
Respec stands for respecification. In gaming, the term means your can “re-specify” where you allocated your character points. In Tabula Rasa, your abilities points and skill points will be reset. You will be able to choose where your ability points are allocated, choose new powers, and get rid of powers that you didn’t like.
The Respec will NOT allow you to change your class. For example, you can’t switch from solider to specialist, or even grenadier to spy. Your tier choices will remain the same, but your attribute and skill points will start from scratch.
ALL characters will get the Respec, not just those with Rage. After the patch that contains the Rage change is published to the live servers (that patch hasn’t yet), the first time you log into a character all of your attribute and skill points will have been reset. You will need to re-allocate attribute and skill points at that time. You cannot ‘save’ your Respec for later. We realise this is not ideal and are working on a more robust Respec system for the future.
THE RAGE CHANGE HAS NOT BEEN PUT ON TEST YET. So you will not get a Respec or have any rage changes through the patch that has been applied to the live servers.
Rage change questions:
What does Fast Cast mean?
This means that you will have very little animation time between the time you fire Rage and the power begins working. Currently the animation takes several seconds. The longer animation time can be deadly if you don’t anticipate correctly or time the cast right. The change makes this power more user friendly in the heat of battle.
When Paul said: “Rage 5: 50% damage buff w/squad members – 10% resist bonuses” did that mean that my squad gets the resist bonus too?
Yes. And that is a resist bonus, that is not a negative sign in front of the 10%. There is no resist bonus on Pump 4.
Why does Pump 3 return to a self buff? Why would you choose that?
Because you like to solo sometimes and the 10% resist bonus is sweet sweet candy. Plus, even if you grab pump 3 of an ability you can still use lower pumps - they are all individual powers. So you use pump 2 in team play and pump 3 solo.

wha ???
This is quite confusing without a link to the original post by Paul.
Super Game
INARU (I’m Not A Rage User
)
As I understand it, the rage presented at launch wasn’t done right, and hence it was to get a change (or nerf if you will). And not surprisingly some people were up in arms about it, without having a chance to try the new version (TBH the time between the news and the change made the unhappieness worse in the ingame channels) and see if it was okay. This lead to a new propose, which I think is worse of since it grants rage an additional bonus which wasn’t there before.
But let’s see how it pans out, for a new game there are many changes yet to come.
